I'm not sure what the councils gain from this other than more risk. They see their shareholding diluted from 100%, where they can make all of the decisions, to less, and add a large airport into the mix. Yes, Stansted is only 61% full and if MAG could buy it, it offers significant growth potential. But surely this is likely to come at a significant cost. Is the £650m Airport City Project not enough for MAG? Does it really have the management and financial resources - even with a backer - to buy an airport too? I don't think it makes sense. Thoughts?

The UKBA spokesperson says 'the system is currently being reviewed..' yet it has been turned off at Manchester and Gatwick and it has already been announced that it will be turned off at Heathrow and Gatwick after the Olympics. That does not sound like a review, it sounds like it is being shut down, This is a shame. The e-gates are great for EU passport holders with a chip passport, but everyone else now has to wait in line. Not much fun at Heathrow, but I guess no worse than at any US airport these days for a non US citizen.

What about if it is temporary? I will be moving to the USA for 5 months for work and in that time my lease on my flat runs out. Of course it makes no sense for me to keep renting it when i'm not there. I want to know if I should think about putting my stuff into storage? If so is it something that the company should pay for? I found some good furniture storage prices in my area but I don't particularly want to shell out for it myself.
